Tired bunch--lots of hair!

This past weekend, Grandma Chilcot (Rachel's mother) came up and spent 4 days with Sophia. It was great having my mom around to teach me a few tricks about how to help our little girl get some better sleep! Her little tricks have worked so far. We can't believe she'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow and we'll be celebrating her one month birthday on Friday! She'll have to have a photo shot that day to document her growth. She has filled out much more and is steadily gaining weight and growing like a weed! She's over 8 1/2 pounds now.

She has longer periods of being awake during the day which is encouraging. She'll be awake for 1-2 hours after every other feeding (if that makes sense). She'll average about 4-5 hours of alert time during the day where she's not crying--just looking around. She likes to stare at the ceiling fan in her room from the changing pad. If I had known this would have been her favorite spot, I would have put here there a long time ago. She's kick around on her changing pad for 20 minutes! Just goes to show, you buy a child a toy and they'll want to play with the box.

Daniel and I are holding on without much sleep. I still have 3 weeks of maternity leave left before I head back to work and Sophia heads to daycare. The way time is flying, it will feel like tomorrow!

And then there were 3...

Julie took the pictures of Sophia above. Joy (a friend of ours who is also a professional photographer) is coming over tomorrow to do newborn pictures. That should be a lot of fun and I'm sure she'll capture some wonderful photos. Things are going well. She's feeding around the clock and not allowing Daniel nor I to get much sleep, but we are enjoying her and enjoying cuddling with her. She's 9 days old today--time is going by so quickly. I'll post a postpartum picture soon. I can't believe how relatively normal I already look in just a few short days. I feel like my old self again (minus the sleep deprivation).

And the winner is.....

Grandpa Frank!!  At the New Year's Eve Baby Shower, he guessed that Sophia would arrive on March 30 at 4:32 pm, so he was only about 7 hours off.  Great guess.
