Wyoming & Colorado Con't

Rocky Mountain National Park

Elk-10 feet away from the car!

Daniel's excited we made it all the way to the top!

16 weeks-Looks like I've eaten too many doughnuts
From where we left off last, on Monday, we went to Pike's Peak and Garden of the God's. We had GREAT weather except the wind chill on top of Pike's Peak was 7 degrees with the wind blowing at 50mph! We took it easy on Monday and headed back to the hotel early that afternoon to relax before traveling all day on Tuesday.
Tuesday we headed to downtown Denver, Colorado before we had to hop our flight. We wandered around some and toured their capital building which has 200 ounces of gold on the dome. It was really pretty (and expensive!) We hopped our flight and now we're home.
Things are productive around here. We're trying to get the house together (ha!). We went to the state fair today and had our fair share of terrible, fatty foods. The baby got to eat french fries, roasted corn, and a funnel cake. That's my one funnel cake a year.

Wyoming & Colorado

We left NC on Friday and headed to Denver, Colorado! We arrived, hopped in our rental car and moved on up to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We hung around their downtown, ate a fabulous meal, then headed in for an early bed (8pm their time which is 10pm our time).

We woke up Saturday at 5am their time and hung around the hotel room till we headed to Laramie, Wyoming which is only about 30 mins away. We met up with Ty, one of my dad's friends (long story) who came to my and Jason's wedding. He took us up to the "snowies" which are some really awesome snow-capped mountains in Medicine Bow National Forest. There was plenty of snow on the ground and when we got up to the highest part, we laughed at the college kids in their big, burly truck that were stuck in the snow. Doesn't matter how big your truck is if you're trying to go through 2 feet of snow. We stopped and took some pictures, and I took pictures of Daniel and Ty in short sleeves! They are crazy. Then we headed back down the mountain and ate at another great local resturant. We headed back to Cheyenne and we both were exhausted!

Today (Sunday), we woke up early, met Ty in Fort Collins, Colorado and headed to Estes Park, Colorado--home of Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw chipmunks, elk, and plenty of deer! One of the elk was a HUGE bull and he was only about 10 feet away from our car. It was extremely windy up there and the temperatures ranged from about 40 degrees at the highest point around 10,000 feet to 75 degrees or so in town. It was great. We drove around there for quite some time. We then said goodbye to Ty and headed back into the Denver, Colorado area. We went to see the burial site of Buffalo Bill on Lookout Mountain. Now we're here--sitting in the hotel blogging and about to get some dinner. Will post pics soon!
