We had 2-3" of snow by Wednesday morning (it was 60+ degrees on Tuesday and is supposed to be 60+ degrees on Saturday too - we love NC weather!).

The Findley Birthday Boys - 0, 30, and 60

All of the Findley boys celebrated a milestone birthday within a week of each other: Frank (today), Daniel (Oct 1), and Ben (Sept 29).

Findley Family Kidisms

A few Findley Family Kidisms:

December 1986: Daniel told Jan about his thoughts on the gender of the new baby ”it’ll either be a girl or a kid.”

June 1986: Amy was crying, so Daniel runs and Jan asks him what he did.  Daniel explained that “I was just brushing Amy’s teeth.” She three months old and had none.

June 1987: Daniel was helping Terri (at Frank’s office) dust and said ”I don’t mind hard work.”

December 1987:  Everyone had been outside playing in the snow and then the coats were placed by the wood stove to dry. The front of Daniel’s jacket was soaked because he had 10 icicles in his pocket.

May 1988: Daniel told Micki to feel his strong muscles, since he moved a log that was used to hold the gate to the duck pond shut.  Micki said “you must work out daily” and Daniel replied “my name’s not daily.”

December 1988: On way to Georgia, Jan told Daniel to remember to ask Grandpa how far the Jews walked in the 8 days the oil lasted. Daniel said “Ok. He’ll probably know. He’s so old he probably walked with those men.”

1989:

Amy to Jan: “Mom, you be princess of Merica and Daniel is king of the Merica.”
Jan: “Daniel, while you were gone, Amy wanted to go to Merica. I told her  we were here and there’s only one.”
Daniel: “Yeah....except for China.”

March 1990: After a bath, Jan asked Amy “what happened to your finger nail polish?”  Amy replied that “it got screamed off in the bath.”

August 1991: David Mitchell helped Julie off a big curb in Cherokee. She proceeded to pitch a fit, cried, crawled back up the curb and said “me do it.”

July 24, 1992: On Julie’s 3rd birthday, in response to opening goody bag from Daniel that had a Roger Rabbit party hat in it: “It’s a boy hat. Shoot.” 

June 1993: Julie told Jan that “Margrit (Margaret) and yogrit (yogurt) sound alike. Don’t they?”

 

June 1993:  Julie asked grandma on the way to Disneyworld “are we 1/2 way there yet?”  Grandma responded “almost,” and then Julie proceeded to ask from some clarification “what does 1/2 way there mean?”

 

February 1995: Amy told Jan that “you’re the smartest adult in this family....almost.”

March 1994:

Julie: “How old are you?”
Jan: “38. how old are you?”
Julie: “4 and a half”
Jan: “more than that”
Julie: “4 and 3 nickels”
 

February 1998:

Julie: “Mom, I know who killed JFK”
Jan: “Who?”
Julie: “Olson Lee Helson”

Date Unknown (on multiple occasions): On the way to Atlanta, Julie asks “Are we going to Atlanta or Georgia?”

GG Doug and GG Jane came to visit this past week.  We had a great time roaming around Raleigh and showing them all our favorite places.  We were glad they were able to come up and spend some time with us!
